Acta Geologica Polonica

Acta Geologica Polonica publishes original papers on all aspects of geology. These papers must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere, in entirety or in part. The articles should be of moderate length (up to 80 manuscript pages). Longer manuscripts may be accepted but authors should consult the editor before submitting these. Starting with 2004 you have free access to full texts of newly published articles; also available are all articles from volumes for 2002 and 2003.

Acta Geologica Polonica is now (beginning with volume 54(1) for 2004) in the following Thomson ISI products: Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCIE), including the Web of Science, Current Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences, ISI Alerting Services.

Author Guidelines

Two copies of the manuscript and all illustrations should be submitted together with a covering letter confirming the originality of the paper. The electronic version of the whole manuscript, best as pdf file, on CD/DVD-ROM disc should be included.

The manuscript may be submitted in electronic version (sent at the Journal e-mail address: agp@geo.uw.edu.pl) as World file, with figures and tables included in the same document or, preferably, as pdf file.

Manuscripts are reviewed by two referees and are not precessed further until receipt of favorable referees' reports .

Authors receive one set of proofs (together with the manuscript) from the publisher. The corrected proofs should be sent back to the Editor. If the author(s) requests significant revision at this stage (more than 5% of the text), then a financial contribution to the costs of publication will be required. The author(s) will receive 50 off-prints free of charge. Additional off-prints may be purchased and the off-print order form (sent by the publisher together with the proofs) should be returned with the corrected proofs.

All papers are published in English.

Text: The manuscript should be written concisely in clear language. The text should be double-spaced, typed in 12 points for size. Captions to text-figures and plates should be written separately at the end of the manuscript. The text should be typed in normal letters. In all citations and synonymy lists, the numbers of figures and plates, if originally given in Roman numerals, should be changed into Arabic numerals. Literature references in the text, when given in parentheses, should give the author's surname followed by the year of publication with no comma in between. Use 'and' for two authors and 'et al.' for more than two authors. The Systeme Internationale (SI) should be used for all units of measurement.

The title page should include:
i. title
ii. first name(s) and surname(s) of author(s)
iii. affiliations and address(es) of authors [include e-mail addresses]
iv. abstract v. key words

Abstracts should be concisely written and should not exceed 200 words.

References should include only papers cited in the text and should correspond to the following examples:

Synonymies should be ordered as follows:

Illustrations: All illustrations (excluding plates) should be numbered in the sequence of their first reference in the text and are labelled as Text-figures (abbreviated Text-fig.). Insertion points for illustrations and plates should be marked in the left-hand margin of the manuscript. Drawings and photographic prints must be of good contrast. Including the legend, they should either match the size of a full page (160 × 220 mm), the width of a double column (160 mm), the width of a single column (75 mm), or they must be suitable for reduction to these dimensions. Colour illustrations are acceptable but authors must contact the Editor before submitting the manuscript.

Plates: Photographic illustrations may be arranged into a full-page format (160 × 223 mm) and are numbered separately (with Arabic numerals) as Plates (abbreviated Pl.). Photographs in one plate are numbered consecutively from left to right and from top to bottom, and each is referred to as a Figure (e.g. Pl. 1, Fig. 2 or Pl. 3, Figs 4, 5-8). The plates must match the size of the full page (160 × 223 mm) or should be suitable for reduction to these dimensions. Colour plates are acceptable without any extra charges but authors must contact the Editor before submitting the manuscript.

  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
