About the journal

A quarterly Acta Parasitologica is an international journal, publishing papers concerning mainly general parasitology and problems of veterinary and medical parasitology.
It was founded in 1953 by Polish Parasitological Society, since 1954 being published by W.Stefanski Institute of Parasitology, Polish Academy of Sciences, in Warsaw.

Acta Parasitologica publish original research papers and review articles, as well as short communications, and book reviews, all written in English.

Recently were introduced profound changes and improvements in order to attain high quality level of the journal. It concerns the scientific level of published papers, as well as its format and quality of print. Since 1992, the format of Acta Parasitologica has increased to a large size (from 17x24 to 21x28cm). It is printed on a high quality glossy paper, making possible an optimal reproduction of half-tone and colour illustrations.

The Editorial Board consists of 27 persons (23 from abroad) and is going to be enlarged. A rigorous editorial policy is observed, each paper submitted for publication in Acta Parasitologica is reviewed by at least two referees from countries with a high standard of parasitological research. In 1993 parasitologists with a high international reputation have been appointed to the The Editorial Board. Papers accepted by referees are published rapidly.

Acta Parasitologica are indexed in Current Contents and other abstracting journals and databases. The impact factor for Acta Parasitologica in 2001 was 0.732 in the SCI.

All articles are protected by copyright which covers the exclusive rights for reproduction and distribution.
